Brief description:

The goal of the “Basel Excellence Scholarship for Master’s Students” (BESt) at the University of Basel is intended for outstanding students at the Master’s level, to give them an incentive to study at the University of Basel and to allow them to focus on their studies, giving them the necessary freedom to follow non-standard routes and discover new fields.

Besides financial security, the scholarship also includes an excellent mentoring program. During their studies at the University of Basel, BESt scholarship holders receive specialist support in their academic and personal development in preparation for a future career in research or academia. They have the option of receiving supervision from 1 or 2 mentors, and receive insights into companies, renowned cultural institutions or the academic world depending on their interests. Furthermore, students benefit from an individually tailored support program provided in conjunction with GRACE, the University of Basel’s Scholarships Graduate Center. The focus of this program is on the acquisition of interdisciplinary skills, as well as preparing participants for their future research activities or professional career.
