Brief description:

The University of Westminster is offering 5 full-fee Nutrition in Emergencies Scholarships to international students from developing countries who wish to attend the intensive, week-long short course in Nutrition in Emergencies that will be held at the University starting before end of 2020.

This training course gives an overview of current best practice in nutrition and food security in emergencies and will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to help them prepare for the complexity and the reality of working in an emergency context.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

Full fee scholarship for the short course. The fee for this course is £995.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be international students from developing countries, who are employed in a relevant sector in a country prone to disaster and who have financial need. They should be interested in learning how to deliver nutritional support services to people affected by humanitarian disasters.

Before you can apply for a scholarship, you must hold an offer for the Nutrition in Emergencies short course. Applicants must provide a personal statement in not more than 500 words, relating their professional and academic experience as well as extra curricular activities they have undertaken with respect to the topic of this short course and why they are interested in attending this short course. They also have a give a Career Aspirations/Development Plan of not more than 500 words, stating what they hope to achieve after this short course, their career, their ambitions and how to achieve them. Those applying for a full scholarship need to detail how they intend to use the knowledge and experience gained from the short course to aid the development of their home country. A short 2 to 3-paragraph statement of why there is a financial need that requires them to apply for the scholarship must be given as well.
